We had previously stayed at this hotel before it was taken over by the Hilton. It was good then but I'd say it's a step up now. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was the cheapest but still very nice. Dipa did a great job of cleaning it each day and we enjoyed our interactions with her. The hotel facilities are very good with multiple swimming pools and onsite amenities.
We went half board and the food was tasty and plentiful. We particularly enjoyed the BBQ on our penultimate night. We liked the hotel's location in the town centre, and very close to the main bus depot. Unfortunately its locality to the clubs and bars means that it can be a bit noisy at night, however this didn't affect us as our room was at the back of the building.
Overall there was a good atmosphere and a nice mixture of nationalities. It was a bonus that they allowed people to watch the England v Mexico game in the bar at 3am!
We had a wonderful stay and were very happy with our experience. The hotel was beautiful, clean, comfortable, and very well maintained.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. A very special thank to Tomson, who did an amazing job keeping our room extremely clean and tidy throughout our stay. We really appreciated his attention to detail and the care he put into making our room comfortable every day.
We also really enjoyed the hotel facilities, breakfast, and convenient location. We stayed as a family and felt very comfortable and welcome.
Many thanks to the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again.
Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms and loved my stay there. I was disappointed on day one when my room was facing the main road. Seaview only visible by leaning forward on the balcony and looking to the left. I had paid for seaview specifically. However the amazing front desk staff Sami, resolved this issue the same night. I was able to get my room changed the next day. The swap over was so smooth with little to no disruption to my wonderful holiday. It's a beautiful hotel and I was able to enjoy so many aspects of it. So many pools to choose from and the cocktails were on point. The massage at the spa was again so good (I have a separate review for this). I did a few day trips to explore the island as well.
I loved Malta and loved staying here at this Doubletree. I wished I had booked a week. I'll definitely be back. I may even visit your sister hotel over in St Julian's. Thank you Hilton as always for having me.
We had a wonderful stay, and the staff made our experience truly unforgettable.
A special thank you to Thomson from Housekeeping, who is the sweetest and best! The room was always cleaned thoroughly and perfectly, and Thomson was incredibly kind, friendly, and always smiling.
We would also like to thank Donna from Ombre Restaurant. She is so warm, welcoming, helpful, and genuinely sweet. She always made us feel valued and ensured we had a great dining experience.
Finally, we want to compliment the check-in team. Everyone at reception was so friendly, welcoming, and professional from the moment we arrived. They made us feel at home right away.
Thank you to the entire team for your outstanding hospitality. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back next year!
We stayed at Hilton Malta for two nights. Since we had also stayed at AX ODYCY the following week, I would like to make a few comparisons, as the two hotels offer a similar overall experience.
The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and we had no major issues. However, when we first entered our room, there was no bottled water. Considering that water is such a basic necessity, I believe it should be available in the room upon arrival.
The room was spacious, well located and nicely maintained. Housekeeping did a very good job, and the room was cleaned thoroughly every day.
The Kids Club staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, the Kids Club opening hours could be more flexible. Compared with AX ODYCY, the hours at Hilton were more restrictive, which makes things less convenient for families with children.
The swimming pools were large enough, but we did not feel that pool cleanliness and hygiene were sufficiently well monitored. We did not see enough visible supervision or transparency regarding water quality and hygiene standards. Given the number of guests and children using the pools, it would be reassuring if regular water-quality checks were more visible and the results were made available to guests.
Finding a sunbed was also very difficult, as many guests reserved them early in the morning. The direct sea access is definitely a major advantage, although the morning reservation process is not an easy or pleasant experience.
The gym was probably the weakest part of our stay. Despite having a beautiful view, the gym has relatively old and insufficient equipment, especially considering the overall quality of the hotel. The experience was particularly poor in the morning when the gym was busy. If you are planning to work out, I would recommend avoiding the morning hours.
Breakfast, on the other hand, was excellent. There was a good variety of food, and having a barista preparing fresh coffee was a major advantage. Compared with AX ODYCY, Hilton definitely has the stronger breakfast experience.
The location is also a significant advantage. Being close to the city centre makes it very convenient for exploring the area.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The friendly staff, spacious rooms, excellent breakfast, direct sea access and central location are all strong points. However, improving the Kids Club hours, sunbed management, pool hygiene transparency and especially the gym equipment would make the experience considerably better.
