The room only gets 2 stars because it was large, there were cockroaches to be found twice in a room,as well as broken down toilet making it impossible to use as the water just wasn’t running. The ac is extremely loud and old and you can barely make out a difference except the loud sound coming from the vents. The service leaves a lot to be desired as well.At first i was not served a glass of champagne with my parents (i dont even like champagne but not even being offered one is pretty bad) and then was explicitly told “its for them” as if it weren’t clear enough. Then we wanted to go out and play some golf just to be told they have no available clubs with 5 bags full of clubs right behind the lady. We decided to play some volleyball instead on a free piece of grass and immediately a worker came out to tell us to leave and that its reserved for golfing. The indoor pool is closed for use and only available as a “spa” attraction which is ridiculous. Wifi barely works and the minibar only had a couple drinks but at least it was free. The bathroom floor is rotting from bad design and the moldy smell inside the room is tragic. The coffee express starts pouring without end when turned on and some of the outlets seem not to work. If your entire day plan isn’t playing golf you should avoid this hotel. I personally will not be coming back.
Like going back in time and not in a good way- same staff serving in 3 different bars at the same time. Decor from the 90s. Though Gym was good and empty. no parking. Won't return.
I stayed at Fairplay Golf & Spa Resort on 27 September expecting a relaxing five-star weekend, but the experience fell far short of what was advertised.
Our room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke.
The room did not match the one shown when we booked.
We found two cockroaches in the room.
The buffet (€28 per person) was poor in quality and variety.
We were charged extra for spa use, which I would expect to be included in a five-star stay.
Two power cuts occurred during our visit — one left us showering in the dark and another disrupted the spa time we paid for.
We paid over €260 for one night and expected a much higher standard of comfort and service.
I emailed the hotel twice (to reservas @ fairplayresort.es and marketing @ fairplayresort.es) but have received no response in over two weeks.
Very disappointing overall, and I hope management addresses these issues so future guests don’t have the same experience.
It might have been once, but today FairPlay Resort & SPA does not live up to 5-star standards at all. The property itself is welcoming, but it completely lacks the attention to detail you would expect from a hotel of this category.
The room was spacious, clean and in order, with a nice view, although clearly dated in style. The surrounding landscape is pleasant, but that’s about the only highlight.
The real letdown was the staff: apart from the kind girl at reception, the others came across as incompetent, careless, and with an attitude of indifference towards guests. Truly disappointing.
The worst part, however, was the food. We chose half-board because the resort is located in a remote village with no alternatives nearby, but the buffet service was simply unacceptable. Poor quality, unappetizing dishes, and so-called “fresh” fish left on display to be cooked but with a brownish color that said it all. In the end, the only safe choice was making ourselves a salad just to have something to eat.
In summary: a location with potential, but service and dining are absolutely not up to standard. Definitely not worth the 5 stars it claims.
What an awesome place for our golf society annual away event. A long coach ride from Malaga airport (about 2 1/2 hours) but well worth the wait. The resort is out in the sticks but that doesn’t matter at all. It’s n simply stunning countryside with views over the surrounding hills and valleys. The course is well kept and is playable by all levels of golfer but it does focus you on ‘straight’ shots! The room (suite) we had was enormous with great views. Food and service were really good and the staff are very helpful and happy. A gem of a place and incredibly affordable with their inclusive packages. Highly recommended.
