Stayed for a week in Hotel Kirchboden, in the winter high season. Based on the reviews and photos on the internet, we expected a cozy, hospitable, typical Austrian hotel. The appearance, rooms, staff and food were very good, but the experience of this week's winter sport was unfortunately not as expected. First, the hotel was only aimed at Danish guests. Nothing wrong with that, but they forget that there were other guests with other nationalities as well. The staff was very kind and helpful, but, except for one man, the entire staff was Danish and hardly spoke any other language. Secondly, the hotel has different rules, but these are not respected by anyone, nor are they enforced by staff or management. For example: Guests talk and scream early in the morning and late at night in the hallways, walk on socks through the restaurant, walk in swimsuits and barefoot through the hotel to get to and from the wellness, children run and scream through the corridors from day to night, loud music in the middle of the night and so on. If you ask the other guests if they can be a little bit quiet, because you want to rest, you will only be told: 'No, I won't, because it is a family hotel here'. We filed a complaint at the reception at checkout and the only thing we get to hear was: 'we hope that you can find another stay next time than.' No sorry or anything. We have traveled a lot and have stayed in many hotels, but this hotel really was the worst experience we have ever had. We will never return to this hotel and will definitely not recommend it.
Nice hotel with fine facilities. However the restaurant is not something that I can recommend. Even though you have to order your meal the earning before, it still takes 30 min. Before getting served the food. The food was ok, but I would rather eat at any other of the many other restaurants in the city. It would seem to me that they have gotten a bit lazy by the fact that they do not have to compete for paying customers, as they just have to serve the guests of the hotel.
The food is below standard. Well below standard. The rest is a 3 star average vacation hotel in the alps. The food / restaurant is what makes it a 2 star. If you can choose not to include any food... Do that... But then you are better of with an apartment.
a good location for a summer holiday, its kind of outdated, bit it is still a pleasure to stay. every day they served 3 main meal, from wich you can choose, only downside is that, when its bussy, they serve at 6 and at 8. when you are allocated the meal scheduled at 8 they reheat some of the leftovers. overall it was good
Not everyone knows english so communicating can be hard. I'm allergic to nuts and they didnt quite get that. They don't write out what has nuts and not so I had to ask every day which was quite annoying. They tried their best though and were really sweet and understanding. Really nice rooms corridors, bath etc. Interesting food, very Austrian. Not recommended for vegans, I'm not vegan but I always look if there is a vegan option. They had a vegetarian option but I don't think it was vegan as well. They can maybe make special food for a vegan but I don't know.
