How many stars does Hotel Riu Palace Meloneras have?
We initially thought we had booked the Riu in Maspalomas, so when we arrived at the airport we were a bit confused. Thankfully, the airport staff were incredibly friendly and helped us figure out that our reservation was actually for the Riu in Meloneras. At first we weren't sure what to expect, but it ended up being the best "mistake" we could have made.
During our stay, we also visited Maspalomas and quickly realized how much nicer Meloneras is. It's cleaner, more elegant, and has a much more relaxed atmosphere. The hotel's location was perfect, especially with its proximity to the dunes. One day we walked across the beach and through the dunes—a beautiful 5–6 km walk that was one of the highlights of our trip.
The room was outstanding—easily one of the nicest hotel rooms we've stayed in. It was spacious, well-designed, and very comfortable. The shower was fantastic, even featuring a built-in seat. Although the room was a little warm when we first arrived, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and thanks to the excellent insulation, the room stayed cool throughout the day by simply keeping the curtains closed.
The service was exceptional. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and always greeted us with a smile. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to help, and we honestly didn't experience a single issue during our stay.
Our only small complaint is the bacon at the breakfast buffet. We often struggle to find properly crispy bacon in Spain, and unfortunately this was no exception. It was quite soft and soggy rather than crispy. Judging by the number of people searching through the tray for the crispiest pieces, we definitely weren't the only ones who felt this way!
Other than that, everything was excellent. We felt that the hotel offered fantastic value for money, and we'd happily pay the same price to stay here again. Most things were included, and the drinks that weren't included were reasonably priced. Overnight parking was also very affordable at just €9.
Overall, we had an outstanding experience and would highly recommend this hotel. We left feeling that everything had been taken care of, and we'd gladly return.
We spent a week there and will definitely be back. Everything was perfect, I have never experienced such nice staff as at this hotel! Everyone was incredibly friendly! When we had some health issues on the first night, we called reception and they took care of us immediately and offered assistance! The food was delicious! With such a huge buffet, there is something to suit everyone's taste! Everything was really clean! We enjoyed our stay and are already looking forward to our next visit!
This was our 5th stay at this hotel. It’s so perfect we struggle to want to book anywhere else. The rooms are bright airy clean and comfortable and are kept lovely by the housekeeping staff for the whole duration of your stay. The staff are faultless. Always smiley , attentive and help to make the holiday even more . the best part of this hotel is the food which is exceptional and there are waiters we first new 6 years ago and still work there. this is un heard off. Also would like to have a shout out to the bar staff at blue bar which has amazing sun sets. see you next year.
This was our 6th stay at this hotel. It’s so perfect we struggle to want to book anywhere else. The rooms are bright airy clean and comfortable and are kept lovely by the housekeeping staff for the whole duration of your stay. The staff are faultless. Always smiley , attentive and help to make the holiday even more amazing(special shoutout to Martin .. we look forward to seeing him every trip!) The evening entertainment is varied and we adore the Dukes Band.. highlight of our stay. The food is freshly cooked and as buffet style in segmented sections, there will always be something to please ! Worth noting.. this is the only hotel I’ve ever been in and not bothered going out to eat in local restaurants! Never been heard of! 😁 . What I also truly love is once you’re on your sunbed, you don’t ever have to move!! They bring you cocktails and coffees and lunches or whatever you prefer straight to you at poolside! What more could you possibly want in a holiday!!!
But now the secrets out.. I may regret telling you all 😂
This was the second time in a year at The Riu Palace Melonares, but this time it was to share our holiday with our immediate family on the occasion of our Diamond Wedding. On arrival we were advised that our party of 10 with 5 rooms were to be upgraded and we were given our chosen rooms. Well done Riu. The rooms, service, food and facilities were excellent. The staff, especially on reception, both for before and during our stay were helpful, friendly and generally very nice and gave good advice. If I had one small gripe that would be on the day of our departure, all our luggage was loaded onto a trolley and left in the main reception area. When our transport arrived I asked for help in taking the luggage out but i was only met with a look and no help was offered, but fortunately our sons helped in this regard. If we had been by ourselves we would have struggled. Otherwise we have all returned with good memories, thank you Riu.
