We were met by the staff on arrival, you pull up in your cars at booths, we were also meet by Orry the campsite mascot which the kids enjoyed. The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. We all received an electronic band which let's you into your room, holds your event tickets and gets you into the swimming pool. It's waterproof and your expected to wear it the whole time on site. My kids lost hers once, reception replaced it no hassle.
Number plate recognition on arrival which we pre entered on the website which opens all barriers.
Parking in designated car parks once you have unpacked nearer your lodge.
Lodges are somewhat basic but the shower was good, the kitchen had loads of utensils, pots and pans and a dishwasher. But limited worktop and cupboard space. Bring your own tea towel as they are not provided. 3x dishwashing tablets and 2x cloths provided.
BBQ is also included, but you need to bring/purchase everything to use it.
Towels and bedding not included unless you pay for it.
The site is very hilly, lots of steps.
The swimming pool is brilliant. I would say the ideal ages are from 0-10. Older kids may become bored as it isn't huge. But our 4,6 and 8 year olds couldn't get enough of it. Swim jackets provided in the pool as are boat floaties to play with. Wave machine, racer slide, inside slide, rapids, a large slide built into the environment that links the pools together and a toddler cave/small pools which were lovely, loads of seating. Our 4 year old actually enjoyed every slide.
Action factory soft play is great.
The bee keeper course was great and we got some free jars of honey. We felt the image to book was a little misleading as we assumed the kids would wear the keeper outfits and go and see the beas, but it was just hosted in the action factory and learning about the honey making process. It was free and the hosts were great with the kids, they worked really hard with a smile.
All the other activities were paid for and in true centre parks fashion, I felt they were far too expensive (probably double what I would want to pay) especially for 3x kids.
The little farm on site was cute, it would be nice for there to be some more petting time with the animals. It seemed the time to be very limited.
Glow in the dark golf was good and worthwhile. We used our £30 credits as part of our booking on this.
Aldi is in town which is a 5 minute drive.
The food on site looks good but again, expensive, approx. 22 euros per main meal, when you are a normal family of 5 on a normal wage, it feels very expensive to do, so we choose not to.
Large will stocked shop on site, you will expect to pay around double for most items you would find in a normal shop.
We explored the local towns, Le Roche which has some good photo opportunities and an old castle to pay for.
Bastogne which has all the war history.
Maboge which was a lovely paddling area for the family.
Overall, we had a great holiday. No real issues or concerns, the site was lovely.
The best thing they could do to enchance the experience is halve the cost of the on-site activities.
Otherwise thank you Centre Parcs.
Ideal center parcs in a lovely area- kids aged 1, 2, 4 and 8 loved it. Great pool area for younger kids, excellent indoor baluba play area and fantastic outdoor playground. Great farm area and plenty to do. Hilly but compact. Accommodation was spotless and very comfortable.
You know what you get with Centre Parcs, we have visited 4 parcs and this one was the most dissapointing.
- Houses are well maintaned and modern, the refresh worked out well.
- Beautifull setting, very green and parklike. Central in the Ardennes.
- Well stocked kitchen and appliances, nice garden furniture
- Terrible, and I repeat TERRIBLE matrasses and cushons, bring your own cushon. One was extremly hard, the other too flimsy to put your head on. Absolute letdown and slept badly.
- Child gate on the stairs was so unweildy and noisy we couldn't use it as we where afraid that opening/closing it for ourselves would wake our child.
- Playground is not the most stroller friendly, despite being on a steep slope/hill.
- Takeaway food was near impossible to find out, random restaurants where closed and no sign we should order in the cafe instead.
- Supermarkt is extremely expensive (10Eu for pasta sauce) and weirdly offers no fresh milk. Does have a ton of good beers.
- Checkin is extremely smooth and easy
- Pool, indoor playground are excellent and what you expect from CP.
So all in all, mildly disapointed, other parcs are better.
We had a pleasant stay overall, but one experience left me and my children disappointed. We purchased a restaurant dinner voucher after seeing a marketing offer that clearly stated 'kids eat free'. I had promised my kids a nice dinner there. However, when we tried to use the voucher, the receptionist named Gabriel told us - in a rather rude manner - that we still had to pay for the children. This was very disappointing after the advertised promotion. I recommend carefully checking the exact terms and conditions of any 'kids free' offers before purchasing.
It was a very nice stay and we loved every second of it. The petting farm is beautiful and the indoor play area was huge. The indoor pool was very nice aswell. The only downside we had was that we booked the sow for birds of prey in the afternoon and it was done in the morning without informing us that it was moved. Other than that all the activities we booked were amazing. Will definitely go back.
