A fairytale for kids! Lots of attractions for kids and for family. The pool is really great, altough it was a bit dirty in the floor (the baby pool was even dirtier) and the water temperature was a bit too cold in the inside, but the attractions and the waterslide are awsome! The food is great and service is top-notch. Adults only area is quite small, but very relaxing and the view from there is amazing. One can feel that this is a family-owned hotel and the atmosphere is very welcoming and warm. Though, the hotel building is very old, and some maintanance is required (floor, walls, bath, balcony, etc.). Thanks for amazing stay, cannot wait for our next visit!
Our family vacation at Märchenhotel felt like an incredible gift. We spent an amazing week there, filled with wonderful experiences, joy, and fun. From the moment we arrived, everything — down to the smallest detail — was perfect. The location, the wonderful staff, the beautiful interior design, the facilities, the food, and the service were all exceptional. Our daughter especially loved spending time with the llamas and goats, playing at the kids’ club, swimming in the pool, and enjoying the many activities organized for children every day. We are incredibly grateful to the entire team and to the owners for their warm hospitality and for making our stay so special and memorable. Märchenhotel truly is a magical place for families, and we already can’t wait to come back for our winter holidays!
We stayed at the Märchenhotel Braunwald in September 2025, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Switzerland. The hotel is incredibly peaceful, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery, and was the perfect place to relax as a family. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and always happy to help, making us feel right at home. Our kids absolutely loved their stay. One of our favorite amenities was the complimentary jogging strollers, which allowed us to comfortably explore the hiking trails together as a family. It made it so much easier to enjoy the stunning scenery with young children and was such a thoughtful touch that we haven’t seen at other hotels. If you’re looking for a family-friendly mountain retreat with outstanding hospitality, beautiful surroundings, and thoughtful amenities, we can’t recommend Märchenhotel Braunwald enough. We would love to return one day!
A lovely hotel that feels like an older property that has been carefully renovated with families and children in mind. The staff were very friendly, and there were plenty of activities for children up to around 7 years old. The food was excellent on some evenings, while on others it was just average. Breakfast was particularly fun for kids, with lots of creative touches: you can order your omelet via a charming cable-car delivery system, get milk directly from a cow-themed dispenser, and make fresh pancakes on the spot. The hotel clearly pays attention to every detail. At the tables, children are given coloring sheets and crayons, and even the menu is thoughtfully designed for younger guests. The swimming pool was nice, although not exceptional. However, the water slide was a big hit with the children. There are many outdoor activities available, including football and tennis courts, go-karts, racket sports, and opportunities to see animals. The indoor playground is also very impressive, offering a wide variety of activities to keep children entertained. What we didn't like: in some areas, the hotel still shows its age despite the renovations. Also, the food for adults was not consistently impressive every evening. The mountain setting is beautiful, with spectacular views all around. However, there are not many easy hiking/cycling trails suitable for young children or beginners, as most routes are quite steep.
My family's experience at Märchenhotel was absolutely incredible! There is so much attention to detail throughout the hotel that makes it a magical place both for children and adults. Our 4 year old was busy having fun the entire time while we were able to enjoy amazing meals and views. The animals on the property are another bonus for animal-loving families. We even got the opportunity to spend a night with the llamas/alpacas which was one of the highlights of our stay. Such an incredible experience that we will never forget. We can't wait to return here!
