Christiania Hotel is our go-to place for many years whenever we come to Zermatt. The staff is extremely friendly, always ready to help and the car which picks you up at the train station is very convenient. The hotel location is nice and only 10 minutes' walk from the main street. The old chalet style of the restaurant and the bar provides a very warm and relaxing feeling. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. From rooms facing Matterhorn, the view is fantastic. The SPA area is amazing, with a big Jacuzzi and a huge swimming pool. This area is perfect for relaxing, we spent many hours there.
I stayed at the new wing Superior Double Room with a Matterhorn view. The rooms were nice, clean, and newly renovated. I also really liked the balcony outside where I sat for coffee (in the morning) or beer (in the evening). I was picked up and dropped off by a member of staff in a buggy, which was great with the baggage I brought, though the property was also really close by to the main train station. The property is also right down the road (like 2 min walk) away from the Sunnegga Express, so it’s also super convenient. One thing I really appreciated was the WhatsApp line, where queries / requests could be directed to. It was easy to use. I reported an issue with the bathtub, and it was promptly fixed. The restaurant was also superb, and I like the fact I can have an amazing dinner without leaving the property. (I just wish there were power sockets closer to the bedside table)
This is a dream hotel! Impeccable location, rooms, service, food, spa, and staff are unbelievable! I forgot my passport and all of my cash in the safe after I left and they were so kind to retrieve it for me for safekeeping. Such personal attention I felt very cared for. This is Swiss hospitality at its shining beat! Food was absolutely incredible for breakfast. Every morning was enormous!!
The view of the Matterhorn from the good sized room was outstanding and made the visit especially memorable. The breakfast buffet was excellent and abundant, and dinner was very enjoyable. I would like to highlight two aspects that could be enhanced. The water, chocolates, and fruit provided on arrival were much appreciated. Considering the room rate, replacing the water each day would be a welcome gesture and is a service often offered by comparable properties. The second, and more important, point relates to the bathroom. The layout felt rather compact, and stepping into and out of the bathtub to use the hand shower seemed potentially unsafe. An upgrade in this area would be highly beneficial. Overall, I valued the stay and hope these observations are received in the constructive spirit in which they are intended.
We really enjoyed staying at this amazing hotel! The room great, the breakfast buffet truly extensive, and the staff renew it all the time. And the spa is absolutely incredible; saunas are fantastic... and the two girls who work there are very kind and helpful. 100% recommended!
