I absolutely loved my stay at Gertrude Hotel! I felt comfortable from the moment I arrived. The room is spacious, clean, and had everything I needed.
The kitchen is very convenient for cooking and fully equipped, which made my stay even more enjoyable. It had everything necessary to prepare meals.
Overall, everything was just perfect. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Riga! Amazing experience. Thank you.
Check in and check out was really smooth, very convienient. Location is great - near the old town. The construction of room felt a bit old, it needs a reconstruction. The beds were very comfortable.
1/5 – Very disappointing experience
I booked this hotel through Booking.com because it was advertised with instant booking, and I needed a place to stay immediately after a night out. I arrived at around 8 AM expecting to check in or at least receive clear instructions on how to access the building.
However, there were no check-in instructions at all. The entrance was locked, and there was only a doorbell. I rang it several times with no response. After multiple attempts, someone finally answered the intercom. The person sounded half asleep and informed me that this is a self-check-in hotel, but my room had not been cleaned yet and I would not be able to check in until 3:00 PM.
This made absolutely no sense. The hotel was presented as offering instant booking, but nowhere was it made clear that I would still have to wait until the standard afternoon check-in time. If I had known that, I would never have booked this hotel.
To make matters worse, I asked if I could cancel the reservation since the hotel could not accommodate me when I arrived. My refund request was refused because of the booking’s cancellation policy, even though the hotel was unable to provide the service I expected based on the listing.
I was traveling with my girlfriend, who was exhausted, and we had to spend about 40 minutes searching for another hotel before finally finding one that could actually accommodate us.
Overall, this was a very frustrating and disappointing experience. The lack of clear communication, misleading expectations about availability, and refusal to issue a refund left a very negative impression. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who needs reliable accommodation upon arrival.
Old cleaning lady scolded me for lounging in the lobby(no shoes but socks on 😇). In the meantime I've been having to open the door for potential guests having to explain to them that there's no reception so they have to book online.
Rooms are okay, nothing special but old. Shower/bath drains very slowly. AC works well but is pretty noisy.
Location is a big plus, close to the center and on a pretty quiet street.
Save your money and stay elsewhere—absolute disaster.
While the price was low, it wasn't nearly cheap enough to justify this experience. For an extra 20€, you could get a proper hotel and save your vacation. We booked a double bed but received two twins with mattresses so thin you could feel the metal springs poking through.
The service was nonexistent: no reception, no room cleaning, and zero fresh towels during our four-day stay. To top it off, the carpets were filthy and the entire place had a foul, lingering odor. If you value your comfort and hygiene, do not stay here.
