Grand palace Riga hotel is suitable for royalty.
We spent 2 nites and wished we had more time in Riga and at grand palace.
Employees in all departments (reception, bar, buffet, maids, etc) were all uniformly friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and spoke great English. Special mentions to the reception office team (Girts, Ernests, Megija, and Janis) and the breakfast buffet serving team and housekeeping.
Our 2 rooms and all public areas were scrupulously clean and well maintained and artfully appointed . Fresh flowers are everywhere- in the rooms, hallways and a beautiful, enormous and fragrant bouquet of lily's in the main entry.
There were nice extra touches everywhere: there is maid service in the evening where you are offered bottled water, extra towels and coffee supplies. There is a "pillow menu" in the room so you can choose alternate sizes and types of pillows. The bath towels are enormous and luxurious.
The breakfast buffet was superb- extensive, well presented , hearty, fresh and healthy. Including champagne, eggs to order and many varieties of smoked fish, smoked meats, plus all the usual items.
The location could not be better for exploring the old city.
All in all- grand palace is wonderful. Outstanding hospitality at a fair price. We will absolutely stay there again.
The hotel location is indeed perfect, if you want to be in old town. Lovely hotel, clean room and good ambiance. I was there during the midsummer festival and Glinz at the front desk did an exceptionally good job in doing research about the different events happening that night with hourly schedule and transportation options. I don’t think other hotels have ever provided me with such a comprehensive list. He also gave excellent recommendations. I ended up having a superb time because of his thorough research!!! Thank you!!!! Hotel is not just about the rooms for me, so this makes all the difference. Highly recommend this hotel.
Location is ideal. Bed is extremely hard with only a feather top as covering. Bathroom is standard small for Europe. There is NO A/C in the rooms by American standards. The wall unit doesn’t even purr a breeze. The light is on, but it only sounds like ice cubes melting. The thermostat indicates that it can be lowered to 18 Celsius. Lies.
The hotel attendant said that the “engineer” mentioned condensation. There was no engineer here. Don’t give me complete BS and lies.
Breakfast is better eaten elsewhere.
A hard pass and not recommended for creatures of comfort.
Beautiful old world charm hotel. Staff were amazing. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had so much to choose from and their Grand Palace eggs were delicious. It is in a quiet street but close to all of old Riga town. Couldn't fault it.
The Grabd Palace Hotel proved to be an elegant and welcoming hotel in the European classic tradition. In the heart of fascinating Riga it was a perfect sanctuary for us, quiet and very well presented. Our room had everything we needed, and a fine view from the windows. We were very impressed by a lady who watered the outdoor plant boxes conscientiously and also sustained a magnificent display on f lilies by the reception doors. The hotel’s location was perfect in terms of Old Town access and privacy. We also thought that the breakfast provision was the best we met anywhere on our Baltic expedition. The food and drink were quality sourced, generously available and you were served by charmingly helpful Latvian girls. We could not find a post box anywhere in Riga, which was a cause of frustration, but Gildas (?) on reception was so helpful he personally offered to post them for us on his day off the next day. And they arrived in England in a week!
